PLANTING OF SEEDLINGS
Before going for transplanting of the seedlings the following operations should be taken care of.
Preparation of the field:
The field should be prepared by repeated ploughing and harrowing till formation a fine tilth followed by levelling of the land.
After selection of proper crop to be grown and the layout of the orchard the pit of specific size should be dug. Digging of pit should be done 3-4 month before transplanting operation for exposure to the solar radiation. By adopting this sterile soil can be obtained.
Filling of pit:
The surface soil along with the well decomposed FYM should be mixed and put on the lower portion of the pit followed by the subsurface soil. Different pesticides like chloropyriphus can also be added to the pit while filling it.
Transplanting of seedling:
The seedling after proper growth and hardening should be carried to the field. The seedling along with a ball of earth should transplanted in the pit by making a hole in the middle. It must be placed erect with proper staking materials followed by irrigation for proper and quick establishment.
